So the International Break has come to an end and as I am an Englishman I will share that we had a decent run of games. England tied with Spain and then beat Switzerland…Anyway, as we know by now this isn’t about England.
Liverpool had a extra week to prepare for their game against Tottenham Hotspurs. Even though near 15 guys were out on international duty, the rest of the team mentally and physically prepared themselves for Saturday’s game away at Wembley Stadium where the Spurs would host us. Tottenham are one of the best sides in the Premier League so this was not going to be an easy game at all, especially away from home with no crowd advantage.
So Saturday comes along and the team is well rested with no new apparent injuries. The team is looking fit and ready to take the challenge on. At the half Liverpool were already 2-0 up thanks to goals from Roberto Firmino and Gini Wijnaldum. We were looking very comfortable but our famous top 3 attacking line were not seeming to click together to produce goals like they usually do. But, being 2-0 up at half time I am definitely not going to complain.
During the second half we remained pretty comfortable apart from when our striker Firmino had to come off due to a Tottenham player nearly gouging his eye out!!! (This is no exaggeration…see the picture attached). After the game Firmino did post on Instagram that he is fine and it was just a little scare….Phew!

The game ended 2-1 to us with them scoring in the last minute of the game. So, of course, that means 3 points to us and we remain at the top of the Premier League. Could not ask for a better start to the season!
